Gullbrá - Baby Blanket

My late grandmother was an avid crafter, and among the many things she knitted were lace doilies. I remember running my fingers over their delicate patterns, and I especially remember watching her starch them and pin them out on a large sheet of foam. For some reason, I found myself thinking about those doilies last spring—about how much work went into each one. They were works of art, really, knitted on very fine needles, and many of them were quite large. Those memories inspired the Gullbrá Baby Blanket, whose pattern is reminiscent of those old lace doilies. The blanket is soft, warm, and square, so it can be folded like an envelope—perfect for wrapping around a little one. It is worked in the round in a beautiful lace pattern, finished with a seed-stitch border. The pattern includes two versions: a finer version and a heavier version. I recommend reading through the entire pattern before you begin.
